Finding government grants for small business owners is impossible. Why? Well, there is no such thing at this time. Even though you see hyped up advertisements on the internet offering a magic formula, the truth is you won't be getting a small business grant. Keep in mind that this doesn't meat government grants for small business don't exist; it just means you will not find any at this time. The good news is there are several different ways for a small business owner to get grants for their business. Even on a state standpoint you can find grants, low interest loans, and various other types of financial aid for funding. If you own a small business and need capitol to grow, or are just dreaming of owning your own business one day, there may be hope for you. Even though there are presently no federal grants for small business, you may still qualify for grants from not for profit organizations or even your state or local government. Grants are usually given for specific purposes, so if you do not find a grant that you are eligible for right away, keep trying. You never know when something is going to come up that you are a perfect candidate for. One of the best places to start your search is the Small Business Administration. They will tell you upfront that there aren't any government grants for small business, but they will point you in the right direction for funding. Whether you're a woman business owner, a minority business, or any other category, it's important to let them know ahead of time. After all, the more they know about you, the easiest it will be to find a small business grant. Then of course if you don't find anything available at the current time, the SBA can help you obtain a small business loan. Once you do find a grant it will be time to fill out the application. Listen, this is a long drawn out process so it's important to set aside a few hours of your time. Even if you miss one part of the application, the grant board will disqualify your app. Don't leave anything out either, because the slightest detail missing could leave you waiting even longer. The good news is it will only cost you time. There is no initial cost to fill out an application for a small business grant. So if someone asks you for money, don't do it. What it comes down to is you can get the money you need if you do a little research. It's just important to remember that there are no government grants for small business owners out there. However, the SBA can give you the various options you have regardless of this short coming. Taking this route will get your business off the ground before you know it. All you have to do is be patient.
